Kickboxing: The Ultimate Blend of Strength, Skill, and Spirit
Kickboxing is a young, fast-growing martial art that began in the 1960s, created to let martial artists safely test their skills. It demands both mental and physical fitness, combining kicking, punching, sweeping, and throwing. Irish Kickboxing has excelled globally, producing WAKO Senior World and European Champions.
Disciplines of Kickboxing:
-
Point Fighting: Held over three 2-minute rounds, fighters score by landing controlled punches, kicks, or sweeps. Points range from 1 to 3, depending on the technique.
-
Light Contact: In the ring or on mats, fighters aim to land controlled strikes. The winner is judged by the number of clean techniques or technical skill in the case of a tie.
-
Full Contact: Similar to boxing but with kicks. The match ends when a fighter is knocked out or the most effective fighter is declared the winner.
Kickboxing Attire: Competitors wear loose-fitting pants, V-neck tops, and appropriate safety gear, including gloves, head guards, and shin guards.
